Last Minute Plans: Chicago Comedians Premiere 'Sick Day' Pilot

Morning TV is normally the domain of lonesome grandmothers just happy to have a cheerful voice echoing through their home and middle schoolers stuck at home with the flu. It's a seemingly endless parade of product plugs and inane interviews with groggy celebs and inane correspondents. Weather on the 4s, traffic on the 9s, etc. etc.

Local production company Odd Machine has crafted a slick, twisted new take on the Morning TV format with Sick Day, an ensemble comedy TV pilot featuring a slew of Chicago-based comedians. Local comics Megan Gailey and Sherman Edwards act as hosts, graciously enduring the antics of the numerous insane characters and weird personalities that drop in.

In addition to other local sketch and standup performers, the cast is rounded out by Gregory Hollimon (known for his role as Principal Blackman in the fantastic cult sitcom Strangers With Candy), and Adam Bartley (of A&E's Longmire).

The cast and crew will be at The Laugh Factory tonight, June 25, to give the pilot a proper premiere screening before the producers take the show to the New York Television Festival later this year to (hopefully) find a network to turn the show into a full series. In addition to the screening, cast members Sherman Edwards, Megan Gailey, and Mike Lebovitz will do standup and many of the folks behind the show will be on hand for a Q & A.
