Video: Elderly Woman Rocks Out In Wisconsin Drum Shop

A video featuring an elderly woman known as "Mystery Mary" playing drums in a La Crosse, Wisc. drum shop and twirling her sticks for the camera went viral on the Internet this weekend, with nearly two million hits as of post time.
WXOW-TV in LaCrosse revealed the woman is Mary Hvida, but not much else is known about her. Coalition Drum Shop owner Carl Johnson said Hvida first walked into his shop about 18 months ago, asked to play the drums and wowed him with her proficiency. Johnson told his employees to capture Hvida playing the next time she visited the shop. Manager Dustin Hackworth was able to do that last week. "I just grabbed the camera and was trying to be incognito at first but once she saw I was video taping she starting doing the stick twirling and really got into it."
As for how Hvida learned to play the drums, all she would tell Johnson was that she played drums in a band in the 1940s and 50s.
