Here at Chicagoist, we're big supporters of the local music scene so we're always sad to see local musicians moving on. That is unless they're headed for greener pastures or, in this case, Texas.

This Saturday marks the farewell show for both Cross Record - the airy, experimental, acoustic musical project from local artist Emily Cross - and electric folk rock band Any Kind. It's not all bad news though. In August, Cross and lead singer of Any Kind Dan Duszynski will marry and move to Austin soon after to create a residential recording and art studio.

Luckily Duszynski and his bandmates aren't leaving Any Kind fans empty handed. The band released its final album this month. Titled Other, the second LP from Any Kind has the same catchy, melodies we enjoyed on the first record but this time around, the band developed a bigger, more layered sound. You can download a free digital copy of the album here through the end of July.

Wish Cross and Duszynski farewell and congratulations this Saturday, July 27, at the Double Door. Tickets are $12 or, if you're smart, you'll RSVP here and avoid the cover charge.
