On Sept. 1st, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., an all-you-can-eat pig-roast competition, hosted by Noble Square eatery Mahoney's Pub & Grille, will raise money for Variety Children's Charity of Illinois. That tangy barbecue you so love will now be for a good cause.

Here are the details, via the official First Annual Chicago Hogfight Blog:

[S]ome of Chicago’s best BBQ chefs, including Chef AJ from Chef AJ’s Carry Out and Catering, Chef Jupiter from Frontier, Chef Vinny from Fireplace Inn and more, will battle it out for the title of “Hog-Father” - and $1,000 in prize money! Part of the street will be closed-off for the event at Ogden and Racine, where contestants will stage their smokers at the corner and put their stamp on a whole hog. For only $25, guests can enjoy all-you-can-eat BBQ throughout the day, with the featured competition pigs being served at 6 pm.

20 percent of the ticket prices will raise money for Variety Children's Charity of Illinois. Buy those tickets here for $25.
