The best way to learn about beer is to drink beer but there is so much more to the history of the common man’s beverage than malt, hops and water. Beer has been a significant contribution to economic development, culture and everyday life for centuries and the modern craft beer renaissance has added a local component to these hallmarks not seen in decades.

Learn about the history of beer and become an enthusiast for suds 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Aug. 22 at Kendall College. The cooking school’s “Home Chef” recreational cooking class series is hosting a course that will touch on key historical moments in the history of beer, the fundamental differences between the lager and ale categories, the various pouring methods of beer styles, pairing specific styles with food and discuss the current local craft beer boom.

This course costs $90 and advance tickets may be purchased here.
