Between dozens of performances at the Chicago Fringe Festival and a few local gems, there's a lot of theater going this week. Soak it up.

The Old Man and the Old Moon

PigPen Theatre Company’s quirky little show follows a man whose job is to refill the moon with light. A little indie music and some puppetry come together as this folksy, spirited story unfolds. The show runs through Sunday, Nov. 10.

Writers’ Theatre, 325 Tudor Court, Glencoe, 847-242-6000 or online.

The Mountaintop

Court Theatre is nothing but timely with their production of The Mountaintop, an intense drama that chronicles Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s last hours in a Memphis hotel room before his assassination. The show runs through Sunday, Oct. 6.

Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Ave., 773-753-4472 or online.

Chicago Fringe Festival

Chicago’s very own fledgling but super-exciting Fringe Festival is relocating to Jefferson Park this year. And while it might be a little bit of a hike, with 50 performances over the next couple weeks and $10 ticket prices, you won’t hear us complaining. The festival runs through Sunday, Sept. 8.
