Grand Avenue Bridge To Close The Next Two Weekends

If you’re thinking of driving or biking over the Grand Avenue bridge to get downtown this weekend, make alternate plans. The Chicago Department of Transportation announced the span will be closed to traffic this weekend and next so that they can paint and repair the structure.
The painting will happen this weekend and the bridge will be closed from 6 a.m. Saturday through 6 a.m. Sunday. The additional repairs will shut down the bridge from 9 p.m. Sept. 20 through 5 a.m. Sept. 23. Automobile, bicycle and pedestrian traffic will detour around the bridge via Halsted Street, Chicago Avenue and LaSalle Street for both closures. Bus traffic will be rerouted via Halsted, Chicago and Kingsbury.
