Drink Your Way Along The Bloomingdale Trail Sept. 21

By Chuck Sudo in Breaking on Sep 13, 2013 9:45PM

Mayor Emanuel and other officials broke ground on the Bloomingdale Trail project a couple weeks back which, by the time it’s completed, will hopefully put New York City’s High Line to shame. The rails-to-trails project, when finished, will connect Humboldt Park, Logan and Palmer Squares, West Town, Wicker Park and Bucktown in a way public transit currently cannot.

To get an idea of how the Bloomingdale Trail will be a game-changer, The Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail and The trust for Public Land have organized a bar crawl of popular taverns located walking distance from the trail Sept. 21. The crawl starts at Bucktown Pub (1658 W. Cortland) at 4 p.m. and heads west to Map Room (1949 N. Hoyne Ave.) at 5 p.m., Green Eye (2403 W. Homer St) at 6 p.m., Marble (3281 W. Armitage Ave.) at 7 p.m. before ending at Weegee's Lounge (3659 W. Armitage Ave.) at 8 p.m.

There’s a $35 suggested donation and there will be discounted drink specials and food for people participating in the crawl. For more information, email the friends of the Bloomingdale Trail here.
