Autumn in the Midwest means it’s apple season, with dreams of apple sauce, apple pie and taffy apples popping up everywhere and seemingly overnight.
Celebrate the coming of fall Sept. 21 with the 26th Annual Lincoln Square Apple Fest. This family-friendly event features food, shopping, frolicking and other fun from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Giddings Plaza (4700 N. Lincoln Ave.). The food vendors include Mick Klug Farms, Phil Foster’s Fruit Farm, Amy’s Candy Bar, Barba Yianni, Chicago Brauhaus, The Chopping Block, Delightful Pastries, Dinky Donuts, Fountainhead, Himmel’s, and Crepes Paname.

For the kids the Old Town School of Folk Music’s Wiggleworms will be on hand, as will a "Science of Soda" lesson from Brew Camp, story time with The Book Cellar and an “urban pooch parade and costume contest.
