Get Your Fill Of Apples This Sunday With Virtue Cider, Sheffield's Apple Pie Bake-Off

If you entered the Bucktown Apple Pie Contest and are looking to bake some practice pies for judging then consider taking part in an apple pie contest at Sheffield's this Sunday. The contest is sponsored by Sheffield's and Virtue Cider and is part of Virtue's Cider School at the Lakeview tavern.

Virtue's Greg Hall is one of the judges. Other judges include Revolution Brewing pastry chef Courtney Baldy, The Chopping Block's Shelly Young and Sheffield's owner Rocky Albazi and executive chef VJ Musci. The first prize winner will receive a tour of Virtue Cider's farm and a gift certificate for dinner at Salt of the Earth restaurant, both in Fennville, Mich. Second prize receives a basket of baking tools from The Chopping Block and the third prize winner gets Virtue Cider swag.

If you're interested in participating, email Sheffield's to claim a spot, bring your pie to the bar at 1 p.m. Judging starts at 2 p.m. with the winners named at 4 p.m. before cider school begins at 4:30 p.m. And don't cheat by bringing an apple pie you bought from Hoosier Mama to Sheffield's an passing it off as your own—Hall knows a Hoosier Mama pie when he eats one.
