Do You Live In A Sucky Neighborhood?

Thrillist, of all places, lists the downsides of living in Chicago’s trendy neighborhoods. It’s obvious click-bait and we’re jealous we hadn’t thought of it ourselves because it’s a funny read and it’s also fairly accurate.
For instance, Thrillist describes Wrigleyville as “the nation’s greatest living monument to failure and public intoxication” that “manages to encapsulate a fraternity party from hell year-round.” Lincoln Park, downtown, Logan Square Wicker Park and Bucktown are all given a rake over the coals but it’s the barbs thrown in the direction of Pilsen and Lincoln Square that caught our eyes the fastest.
Thrillist calls Pilsen the perfect place for “condescending artist(s) whose parents are supplementing your income JUST enough that you can afford to pay rent and subsist on tacos (admittedly delicious, inexpensive tacos) while pretending you’re actually scraping by only with grit and freelance graphic design work.” While residents of Lincoln Square are taken to task for the way they love to brag about living in the neighborhood, which Thrillist says is “about as much fun as Naperville.”
Thankfully they didn’t go any further south than Pilsen or farther north than Lincoln Square. We would shudder to think what Thrillist thought of Edison Park or Beverly.
