A gay couple who claimed in May a taxi driver forced them to leave his taxi because of a simple closed mouth kiss in the back seat have filed a human rights complaint against the cab company that employed the driver.

Lambda Legal filed the complaint with the Illinois Department of Human Rights against Sun Taxi and cabbie Jama Anshur on behalf of Matthew McCrea, 30, of Chicago and Steven White, 29, of West Hollywood, Calif. The couple contends they were giggling over a YouTube video when McRea leaned in and kissed White as they were on the Kennedy Expressway heading to O’Hare International Airport. Anshur allegedly swerved out of traffic and demanded they leave his taxi.

On the expressway. In the middle of a hard thunderstorm.

Anshur eventually drove McRea and White to a Dominick’s parking lot in Park Ridge and waited for police, where he said the couple was “making sex.” Anshur later said he wasn’t trying to force White and McRea from his cab on the Kennedy and that he pulled over because “it was raining. I couldn’t drive with something like that. I have to drive safely because it’s raining.”

Something like what, Mr. Anshur?

Anshur was fined $1,540 by the Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection over the incident and Sun Taxi fired him shortly after.
