Autopsy results on Charlie Trotter were inconclusive, although foul play was ruled out by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. Officials will now conduct other tests including a toxicology screening to determine the specific cause of the pioneering chef’s death Tuesday. Results could take six to eight weeks.

Trotter's family told officials he was on medication for high blood pressure, high cholesterol and seizures. Sun-Times columnist Michael Sneed, who reported Wednesday that Trotter suffered a stroke in January, writes in her Thursday column that Trotter died from another stroke after returning from a culinary conference in Wyoming last weekend. According to Sneed, Trotter flew to Wyoming for the conference despite doctors’ warnings not to travel.

Meanwhile, a memorial service for Trotter has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Fourth Presbyterian Church downtown. The service will be open to the public and chefs and friends of Trotter from across the globe are expected to be in Chicago for the service.
