Fact: Don't Take A Divvy Bike On Lake Shore Drive

We kicked off our Thursday morning with a good chuckle and an underlying sense of rage thanks to this video our friends at the RedEye unearthed. Many people, cyclist or not, have voiced their annoyance and rage at the conduct of some of the Divvy bike users throughout the city. Many people know how to ride a bike well and obey traffic laws, but it feels like many more have no idea what they are doing when they hop on a rented Divvy bike and pedal away. Doesn’t help that the bike rental doesn’t come with a helmet, which makes some of us even more fearful for the amateur cyclist enthusiast out there. But the girl in this video takes the cake. Warning: NSFW language.

Let us all repeat this loud and clear: DO NOT TAKE A DIVVY BIKE ON LAKE SHORE DRIVE. Unless it’s Bike the Drive, but that is a given. Seriously people, you are not only doing something incredibly stupid and endangering yourself, but you are endangering the lives of the people in the car that might eventually run you over. We hope this woman is lost and ended up on an expressway by accident but since she seems to be peacefully pedaling along we think this might be intentional. And of course she isn’t wearing a helmet.

We thought it was bad when a woman on a Divvy almost ran us over while riding on the sidewalk yelling at pedestrians to move on Washington between Wabash and Michigan Avenue, but this video takes the cake for worst Divvy bike patron ever. Shut it down, game over folks.
