Just in time for the evening rush home, a huge fire in a West Rogers Park strip mall broke out. The three-alarm fire at 3106 W. Peterson Ave. caused the roof to collapse. The Sun-Times interviewed several eyewitnesses to the Northwest side fire, which destroyed three businesses.
CPD told the Sun-Times that the city’s Bomb and Arson Unit was still looking for the building's roofers, who "were using propane torches before [the] raging fire broke out." The fire is not being treated as a criminal incident.
While the investigation continues, you can check out the on-scene photos that the Chicagoist Flickr pool users took of the fire.
