The first wave of WIngFest 2014 tickets went on sale a couple weeks back and sold out within minutes. Those of you who love to attend the annual gastronomic challenge be advised: the next blocks of tickets will go on sale for the Feb. 23 event in January. You don't have to start refreshing your browsers now but you may want to schedule reminders.

The second set of 400 tickets will go up for grabs Thursday, Jan. 2, just in time for your New Year's hangover to subside. The third and final block of tickets will be available for purchase Wednesday, Jan. 22. After that the festival organizers will be giving away tickets on their Facebook and Twitter feeds.

WingFest is one of Chicago's more popular mid-winter culinary attractions, with over 25 restaurants vying for the crown of best in show, best mild wing, best hot wing, best exotic wing and best BBQ wing. Proceeds from the event benefit Chicago Neighbors United, a community based organization which provides educational scholarships to inner city youth. Since its inception, WingFest has raised over $140,000 for various charities.

WingFest is held at the Chicago Journeyman Plumbers Union Hall's Bailey Auditorium at 1340 West Washington Blvd.
