A 69-year-old woman was sexually assaulted, then robbed, as she was leaving the Orange Line train at Midway Airport to return home from work. According to the Tribune, the attack occurred Friday afternoon in Garfield Ridge on the city's Southwest Side. Chicago police issued a community alert Saturday, which described the circumstances of the attack after the alleged assailant forced the woman into her own car: [Trigger Warning]
The man told the woman he was armed with a handgun and proceeded to sexually assault her, according to a community alert issued by Chicago police Saturday. The man robbed the woman of her cash, cell phone and ATM card and drove her to various locations around Chicago where he made withdrawals from her bank account before he abandoned her and the vehicle on city’s West Side, the alert said.
The good news, relative to news such as this, is that police questioned a person of interest in the case. "The man has not been charged and is identified only as a 30-year-old from Humboldt Park," according to ABC Chicago.
Earlier, NBC Chicago cited a police report describing the alleged assailant "as a black man around 20 years old, standing between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 140-150 pounds."
