There is at least one casualty to the snowfall we've received the past two-plus days. Divvy, the city's bike sharing program, temporarily stopped renting bikes as of noon today. An email to Divvy members explained the matter as one intended "to protect the safety of our members and staff." Folks who rented Divvy bikes prior to the announcement will be able to return them, if they haven't already.
Frankly we can't see many people renting the powder blue tanks in this weather, especially as Streets and San plows attempt to keep the streets clear for traffic. Divvy members can stay updated on when bikes will be available for rent again by visiting the program's website, Facebook page and Twitter feed.
Divvy has still proven popular with Chicagoans as the Old Man Winter settles in. 44,693 trips were logged with the program in December.
