Pilsen's Cafe Jumping Bean Celebrates 20th Anniversary

In light of the flurry of restaurant closings that greeted 2014, it's nice to hear about a restaurant celebrating its longstanding presence in its community. To that end, Pilsen's Cafe Jumping Bean, located at 1439 W. 18th St., celebrated its 20th anniversary yesterday with a delightful, grateful Facebook post.

Here's an excerpt:

Twenty years ago, on a cold January evening, at 6 PM on the dot, I took a deep breath and opened the door to a remarkable journey that’s hasn’t always been easy, but that has offered great joy and tremendous life lessons. Since then, CafĂ© Jumping Bean has grown from a tiny 1-person operation to one of Chicago’s most successful small businesses and coffeehouses in the Pilsen community, none of which could have been possible without the support and creative spirit that you, our long-standing customers, friends, and family provide.
