We woke up resigning ourselves to a day of people Instagramming their smartphone weather apps to let everyone know how damn cold it is. And the running theme with today's forecast is how these are supposed to be the coldest temperatures to hit Chicago in nearly 20 years. Subzero temperatures and high winds are already cocking up morning commutes across the area—follow the twitter feeds of CTA and Metra for service delays and updates.

And bundle the hell up if you need to go outside. As I write this the official temperature at O'Hare Airport is -15 degrees, which is already close to Skilling Central's forecast of -13 degrees and within reach of Accuweather's minus 9. We have northwest winds gusting up to 30 mph, pushing the wind chills to 50 below zero. Yeah, it sucks if you have to work today but this isn't anything we haven't seen before. Let's get through it together.
