By Jon Graef in News on Jan 26, 2014 6:15PM

UPDATE, 2:40 p.m.: ABC7's Stacey Baca reports that CPS will decide by noon Monday whether or not to cancel school for Tuesday. The Chicago Public Schools website also now reflects the fact that Monday's school day was cancelled. Call 773-553-1000 for recorded updates.

Though as of post time the CPS website still says that, "CPS will determine on Sunday whether schools will be open Monday," ABC 7's Ben Bradley reports that Chicago Public Schools has cancelled school for tomorrow, Monday, Jan. 27. Temperatures are supposed to reach minus 40 degrees. At least they were on top of the ball this time.

“The decision to close schools is never easy. However, based on the severity of the weather we are expecting Monday, I am confident that this decision is in the best interest of CPS students,” CPS CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett said to the Sun-Times.

No word on Tuesday yet.
