In Chiberia, 37 degrees is essentially shorts weather and the Empty Bottle (1035 N. Western Ave.) isn’t going to make you wait on summer’s distant return to kick it at a block party. On March 1st, the Empty Bottle and Goose Island Beer Company will host a free outdoor event entitled Music Frozen Dancing.

You won’t be risking your extremities for just any lineup. Marnie “The Lady Who Shreds” Stern headlines with finger-tapping guitar work. Diarrhea Planet returns to Chicago after commanding recent outings at Beat Kitchen and the Tomorrow Never Knows fest with a garage-punk sound as dynamic as their name suggests. Hometown tunes will be provided by opening sets from the lo-fi ripping of Heavy Times and spinning from Rabble Rabble.

The party starts at noon, adjacent to the Empty Bottle on Cortez Street, and lasts until dark. Keeping partygoers warm will be a chili buffet from Bite Café, coffee by Dark Matter, and Goose Island beers. The Bottle promises additional activities as well as “late-night shenanigans,” so you might as well park your lawn chair on Cortez and call dibs now.
