Divino Niño is currently based in Chicago but their roots stretch all the way to Bogota, Columbia where band members Camilo Medina and Javier Forero met. Once the two found themselves in Chicago, they eventually teamed up with Guillermo Rodriguez and Pierce Codina to form Divino Niño. The band's sound is slippery and not what you'd expect. Their debut album, Pool Jealousy, is a simmering mid-tempo affair, filled with diaphanous melodies. It's a pretty, delicate little thing with much of the sound harkening out to western prairies and cowboy campfires and "It's Been Like It Never Used To Be" is a perfect example of that aesthetic.

Divino Niño play April 4 at Cole's, 2338 N. Milwaukee, 10 p.m., FREE, 21+. Pool Jealousy is out April 8 and is available for pre-order now.
