STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS: Meet Melissa McEwen, Chicagoist's New Food And Drink Editor
By Chuck Sudo in Food on Mar 11, 2014 9:40PM
When I became editor of Chicagoist in October 2010, I knew I had to relinquish control of a food and drink section I worked hard to establish as a well-rounded and smart beat that stood out among the site's content and could hold its own with other media outlets across town. It ultimately was Anthony Todd who was entrusted with the beat. Anthony went on to become one of the best young food writers in Chicago and exceeded even my highest expectations.
When Anthony moved on to helm Tasting Table Chicago in December, Lisa White and I decided to take our time to find his successor and today we're proud to introduce Melissa McEwen to our audience. Melissa's organizational skills and sharp writing impressed us from her first posts she submitted for our review. From her coverage on Forbidden Root Brewery's attempts to lift a liquor moratorium in the area they want to build their brewery, to listing the reasons why Chicago should get excited about cider, to taking a look at the bitter cocktails and Cajun food at Analogue, we were immediately sold on Melissa and we know she'll keep the F&D standard at Chicagoist hoisted high.
Please welcome Melissa with open arms and minds. Publicists and others wishing to pitch stories to Melissa and the food and drink staff may email her by clicking here.
