Pencil This In: Bottle Stories At City Winery

By Lisa White in Arts & Entertainment on Mar 17, 2014 5:40PM

2014_3_17PTIBottleStories.jpg.jpg Bottle Stories is a reading series combining two favorites loves of numerous wordsmiths; writing and drinking. City Winery even points out "there's a reason that Hemingway has a cocktail named after him." The point of Bottle Stories is to not only share a story with an audience, but to share the bottle behind it as well.

Five authors each choose a bottle of wine, use the libation as a muse and share both with their audience. During the reading, a paired wine flight of each author's wine they chose will be served, or if you feel like getting inspired on your own, you can chose your own drinks as well. Some favorite readers tomorrow night include Paper Machete regular and Associate Editor of Huffington Post Chicago Kim Belware, author, comedian and ex-Millionaire Matchmaker participator Daniel Kibblesmith and Thought Catalog contributor and co-producer of the now-retired Solo in the 2nd City reading series Carly Oishi. Rounding out the night are writers Mason Johnson and Patrick Kueking.

Bottle Stories at City Winery (1200 W Randolph St) is tomorrow night, Tuesday March 18. Doors are at 6 p.m. and the series starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25, which includes the wine pairings for the evening, and can be purchased here.
