CTA riders heading to O'Hare International Airport are taking shuttle buses from the Rosemont station to their flights this morning after a Blue Line train derailed and crashed into the O'Hare station. As of post time, 32 people were injured, none seriously.
The crash occurred around 5 a.m. 2:50 a.m. when the train approached the station at a high rate of speed, jumped the tracks and slid on the platform before crashing into the escalator. CTA spokesman Brian Steele said it will take several hours, at least, before service is restored. An investigation is underway.
We'll have more on this story as it develops.
