When Chicagoist spoke with rising Chicago rap collective Pivot Gang, member Saba, who grew up in Chicago's Austin neighborhood, said that a solo mixtape, COMFORTzone, was on the way.
COMFORT sees release later this Spring, but, in the meantime, Saba has been releasing videos, including for track "Secondhand Smoke," a soulful, psychedelic piece of contemporary hip-hop with a video that perfectly matches its vibe.
"Smoke," which was premiered on The Source last month, has inventive visuals and animations, with shots of Chicago interspersed throughout the video.
Directed by Caves from Heart of the City, with animation by Anthony Esquivel, and featuring a supporting turn from Chicagoist favorite NoNameGypsy, "Secondhand Smoke" promises big things to come.
