Spy-Themed Art Book Needs Your Kick-Start

We're the first to admit we admire a great number of nerdy pursuits. We're passionate about passionate people, and we love to see them succeed. Many of us also have a bit of an obsession with Kickstarting kick-ass ideas.

Just one week before C2E2, we've spied something worth opening the wallet for. Sean Dove, a Chicago based illustrator and designer, has poured his love for spy films onto the pages of an art book he's hoping to have fully funded through a Kickstarter campaign.

The Last Days of Danger will be a 56-page book featuring 23 full-page illustrations dedicated to the spies (and films) Dove loves. Dove has a simple but bold retro style that jumps off the page, and backers for the project at different levels will also receive giclée prints of some of the book's best work.

The idea for the book was born out of a project called #decembond, in which Dove decided to stay busy during a holiday scheduling break by watching all the Bond films and drawing an illustration based on each one. We'd bet that was a hell of a month, but in the end we're glad to see that this came out of it. The hardcover book is set for publication in August 2014 and features a foreword by the hosts of Nerdist network's James Bonding podcast, Matt Mira and Matt Gourley.

The artwork is great, your kickstarting dollars are supporting a local artist, and you get unique Bond paraphernalia. We can't see how this would be a wrong move. Kick it, and check out the rest of Sean's work here.
