Sad news among the ranks of Chicago’s artist community over the weekend: Jason Brooks Golden, best known for his owl murals around Chicago, died over the weekend after a brief illness.
Here is a touching tribute to Golden written by Chicagoist Photos Flickr Pool contributor Senor Codo.
”He was known for his love of owls and art. He started out doing graffiti and street art as the 7ist in Milwaukee. Later he changed his name making his last name his first and taking on the last name Golden and adopting his catch phrase Be Golden.
“His penultimate mural on the Pilsen Wall serves as a lasting example of what he was capable of and where he was going. Jason may be gone but his owls will always live on. Rest in Peace Brother.”
