Laughing Bird Set To Open This Weekend

While many are still mourning the loss of Tank Sushi, owner Franco Gianni is replacing the beloved haunt with Laughing Bird, a contemporary Filipino-American restaurant. The Lincoln Square spot is headed by Chef Chrissy Camba, most recently of Bar Pastoral. Camba is refocusing her attention from contemporary American bistro food to something that hits closer to home with a seasonal and eclectic menu that showcases a bit of her childhood. “Growing up, on the table you would find traditional Filipino food, traditional American food, Chinese food…. All next to each other,” says Camba, “that mix is my ‘American.’” Camba’s favorite dish on the menus is the Pancit Palabok, thick rice noodles cooked in pork-shrimp sauce with smoked mackerel, chicharons, pork belly, shrimp and a hard-boiled egg.

They plan to open this weekend, but an exact opening date hasn't been set. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for further updates.

The restaurant also features a full bar, with wine, cocktails, craft beer and a solid assortment of teas. Laughing Bird will be open Tuesday - Thursday 5 p.m. -10:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. and Sunday 5 p.m. - 10 p.m..
