Despite some technical issues and other glitches, last year's 70mm Film Festival at the Music Box was one of our most memorable cinema experiences. Seeing Playtime really, really big and crystal clear is not something we'll soon forget. So we're very pleased to learn that in July, the Music Box will be remounting the event.

We've just had word from Douglas McLaren, the theater's head projectionist, that they'll be doing another two-week festival starting July 11. Though the schedule and lineup is still being finalized, he's confirmed that 2001: A Space Odyssey, Vertigo, and The Master will be back. New selections will possibly include Patton, Brainstorm, and (Good Lord, please let it be true) It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

Here's hoping that Lord Jim will also be on tap, a film that was supposed to screen last year but was dropped due to print delivery problems. (Not that anyone's asked us, but we'd also love to see Tron, The Abyss, and a David Lean epic or two.) We'll be sure to post the final schedule once it's been announced.
