After a winter of discontent the Divvy Bikes program is out of hibernation and setting single day usage records left and right. Saturday and Sunday marked back-to-back records for the city's bike-sharing program. 12,863 rides were logged on Saturday, followed by and astounding 16,259 rides Sunday. I counted at least 15 people using Divvy for Bike the Drive Sunday—the only day one should take Divvy on Lake Shore Drive. Much respect to those folks who had to pedal those powder blue tanks over the Lake Shore Flyover twice. That's no easy feat.

The previous record was set earlier this month with 12,796 rides. And over 6,900 24-hour passes were bought Sunday, meaning people were getting out in the sunshine and 83-degree heat to use Divvy. Since the program has proven to be popular since it launched last June, maybe the city can stop with the hard sell on Divvy.
