Milwaukee 11, Cubs 5
A Cubs pitcher allowed five first-inning runs Friday night and he wasn't Edwin Jackson. The normally reliable Travis Wood was responsible for putting the Cubs in a hole at Miller Park Friday night. Wood only lasted 2-2/3 innings in his start and allowed seven runs on 10 hits. It was not pretty. At least the Cubs were able to score this game but it wasn't enough to get Wood a no-decision.

San Diego 4, White Sox 1
The White Sox had fireworks after the game at 35th and Shields Friday night but the display may as well have been for the Blackhawks win in Los Angeles because they wasted a quality start from John Danks. The lefty continues to show he's back in form after shoulder surgery with a seven inning, two run performance but the Padres' Ian Kennedy struck out nine and allowed a run in six innings.
