Summer returns to the Museum of Contemporary Art’s backyard tonight with the kickoff of this season’s Tuesdays on the Terrace. Bring a blanket for the lawn or grab a seat on the terrace to hear some of the city’s finest jazz musicians for free thanks to the museum’s Community Free Days. From traditional jazz standards to their more modern experimental counterparts, each week features different artists like popular trumpeter Corey Wilkes (July 8) and MacArthur Genius Ken Vandermark on sax with The Chicago Reed Quartet (August 12). Look below for the full schedule.
Hamburgers, sausages and, more importantly, wine and beer are for sale, or make a reservation at Puck’s buffet. This year’s menu is inspired by picnics and state fairs and features fresh produce from the MCA Farmers Market earlier in the day.
Tuesdays on the Terrace is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday through September 9. 220 E. Chicago Ave.
