VARIOUS Creative is celebrating the launch of their latest book THREE, a collection of over 40 artists'' work wrapped up in one handsome release. We've been leafing through an advance copy and it runs through a wide spectrum of imagery, displaying the collective's broad aesthetic tastes. We found a few images particularly eye catching, including Patrick Melcher's surreal shoe topped "Desert Tree," Mike Host's dreamy image "The Harpy" (which also serves as the cover image for some of the printings), and drmoothdeath's "May Not Look Like Much..." which manages to turn an automobile into a heartbreaking image of inner pride. VARIOUS Creative was founded by Austin Will and Robbie Veltman with support from Nick Lipton and they aim to build a "creative escape from the rules and regulations that plague many creative lives." The variety of the offerings in THREE certainly supports this vision.

To celebrate the release Alex Owens is curating an event at Longman & Eagle tomorrow night, June 27, so you can pick up a copy of the book, sip on some cocktails, grab some grub and check out some of the book's art in person.

If you have an event for inclusion in "Pencil This In," please contact Tankboy (for A&E-related listings), Melissa McEwen (for tastings, dinners and food and drink-related events) or tips[at]chicagoist[dot]com.
