As the population density along the north lakefront has increased urban planners and government agencies have been looking at ways to improve Lake Shore Drive so that it can be shared equally among motorists, pedestrians, cyclists and others.

The Illinois Department of Transportation and Chicago Department of Transportation are hosting a second public meeting on ways to improve the eight-mile stretch of North Lake Shore Drive Tuesday, July 8, from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. The meeting will be held as an open house, will present a Purpose and Need statement for the project, and solicit participation to identify ways to improve the drive through sketches, written suggestions and an online mapping app.

The meeting will be held at The Drake Hotel's Grand Ballroom, 140 E. Walton Pl.
