Summer affords us the opportunity to do all sorts of things that are much harder to get away with in the cooler months. You can barbeque, enjoy a plethora of free outdoor events, or head to the beach. Longer days and warmer weather may also give you the chance to explore the city and surrounding area and see new things. Whether by foot, Divvy bike, train, or car, summer is a great time to venture beyond the same square blocks you see every day.
This week’s playlist will serve as the compulsory Summer Roadtrip Playlist for 2014. There is nothing quite like hopping in a car, rolling down the windows, and letting the summer sun pour in while you race along, whether the destination is known or not. Chicagoist has some fun lists to offer ideas of places within the city to check out. AtlasObscura is another great site to find ideas for unique places to visit.
So take this as your excuse. Plan a day trip, plan a weekend, cruise around. No matter how you travel, be sure to bring this soundtrack along.
