The National Weather Service warned us about this week's weather in its own peculiar way. But we have another day to prepare for that. Today, we'll see showers, partly cloudy skies and highs near 80 degrees, which is something we can absolutely live with as long as the rains aren't of the monsoon variety that waterlogged festivals, concerts and the plans of scores of Chicagoans Saturday.

Tomorrow the Big Chill arrives and things around here will feel like mid-spring for a few days with highs in upper 60s to low 70s and overnight lows dipping down to the upper 40s in spots. If you would have told us we wouldn't need a fan, let alone air conditioning, in mid-July, we would have doubted you.
