Live And In Person, 'mental_floss' Trivia Night Comes To Chicago

2014_07_triviashow_375_1.jpg Let’s face it, there’s no lack of things to do on the internet that don’t require thinking. No lack of things to do in general that let you check out mentally, in fact. But once you tire of catapulting birds and channel surfing, maybe you find yourself looking for a bit of an intellectual challenge. Certainly the success of shows like Cosmos shows that people are paying more attention to intellectual pursuits than they used to, and we’re glad for that.

One of our favorite quick fixes for intellectual stimulation has got to be mental_floss. From physical magazines to the ever-popular YouTube channel, which we LOVE, we’re on board. We love learning more, and they approach knowledge in a fun way full of quizzes and quirky facts. From state capitol facts to misconceptions about sex, there’s always something we didn’t know before or that we find wildly interesting. They’re irreverent, fun and let’s face it— the salon that host John Green usually occupies is a room full of awesome we’d love to visit.

This time though, mental_floss is visiting us. Tomorrow night, you can be part of the mental_floss nationwide trivia tour. It starts with doors at 6:30 p.m. at Howells and Hood and the show kicking off at 7:15 p.m.. Tickets are only $15, with proceeds going to John Green's Project 4Awesome. Project4Awesome happens every year on December 17th and 18th and features people advocating for charities that “decrease world suck.” Then, the online community donates money which is split amongst the chosen charities.

From the kid’s edition of Trivial Pursuit onward, we’re fans of trivia games, and now there’s a chance to get our mental_floss fix, win prizes, and support charities. We’d call that a win, whether we’re at the top of the leaderboard or not.

Howells and Hood is located at 435 N Michigan Avenue, and you can get tickets and learn more here.
