2014_7_29uniqlo.png [UPDATE 11:35 a.m.: A rep from Uniqlo reached out and let us know the Chicago store will be located at 830 N. Michigan Ave. It will also be Uniqlo's second largest store in the U.S.]

Gone soon are the days of Chicagoans lugging back HEATTECH items for friends while visiting New York City or the Bay Area. Yes, the years-long rumor is finally true, Chicago will be the first Midwest outpost to receive a Uniqlo store. The Japanese fashion retailer, which has a large cult following thanks to their clean designs at affordable pricing, is finally opening a store in Chicago, as announced today by the brand on Twitter.

No word yet on location, but we'd place a safe bet on it being somewhere near or on the Mag Mile and likely a large, multiple-floor location, similar to many of their locations in New York City. Since this is the first location not on the East or West Coast, we'd assume they'll go big with the setup and make it a true flagship location for the Midwest.

Unfortunately we'll have to wait a few more seasons before signature pieces from Uniqlo start dotting the Chicago fashion landscape. The store is not set to open until Fall 2015. Just think of it as only one more winter to brave before wrapping yourself in HEATTECH (the aforementioned line helps many locals stay warm during our brutal winters) until spring.
