This Thursday, Aug. 28, Local Root (601 N. McClurg Ct.) is hosting a crawfish boil, last in their series on Southern dinners. The three-course dinner is $38.00 and includes appetizer, entree and dessert. This week's menu is red beans and corn bread, a New Orleans-style crawfish boil, and creme brulee. There will be live Bluegrass music from the Dog Patch Ramblers performing 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

If you prefer your crawfish as crayfish Sweden-style, The Swedish American Chamber of Commerce of Chicago is hosting their traditional Swedish kräftskiva on Sept. 13.
