If you're one of the many Chicagoans with a September 1st move-in date, this weekend's Remix Festival in Logan Square could be the perfect opportunity to furnish your new place with eco-friendly works of art. Hosted on Milwaukee Avenue between California and Fullerton, the art fest is set to not only host an eclectic lineup of artists, but will have attendees learn hands-on techniques in 12-eco friendly workshops hosted by local businesses. Using all reused and recycled materials; participants can try out their upcycling skills and create kites from old tablecloths or new book covers and bindings out of reused cardboard boxes.

If you prefer to peruse Milwaukee Avenue, take advantage of the weather and find a full lineup of live and local music, from artists like Disappears, Panda Riot and The Boxers and grab lunch from local vendors. A suggested donation of $5 will go to benefit a new sustainable playground for the Goethe School.

Remix Chicago Art Festival is Aug. 30-31 on Milwaukee Ave. between Fullerton and California, 12 p.m.-10 p.m.
