Chicago's Dark Matter Coffee has teamed up with Georgia metal band Mastodon to create a coffee blend called 'Black Blood.' According to a Dark Matter newsletter, Black Blood is the company's Unicorn Blood blend "aged in Basil Hayden's Bourbon Whiskey barrels." There will only be 2,000 of Black Blood available worldwide.

Dark Matter is no stranger to conceptual coffee blends, so their collaboration with the metal group behind concept albums about Moby Dick makes beautiful sense.

The idea behind Black Blood is, according to the newsletter that, as "techno-organic life forms rule the earth" in 2420, the coffee blend is fuel for a quest of vengeance.

The year is 2420, techno-organic life forms rule the earth, the cyborg Mastodon seeks vengeance against the Clovis people for the genocide of his kind.

The terrestrial leviathan fuels himself with Black Blood, as he prepares to enter
the time portal known as the Dark Matter Machine.

Through the power vested in Black Blood, the Mastodon shall reclaim its throne of world domination.

Clovis Blood, a "hand-made, wax dipped iced coffee bomber," will also be sold in an extremely limited capacity of 500 bottles. Both Clovis Blood and Black Blood will be available Friday, Sept. 12th via Dark Matter Coffee's website and retail locations. The blends are in celebration of Mastodon's new album, Once More 'Round The Sun.
