Chicago's Acting Community Loses Two Of Its Own On The Same Day

Chicago actors Molly Glynn and Bernard Yvon were killed in separate accidents. Glynn, 46, died while biking with her husband, Joe Foust, in Suburban Chicago's Erickson Woods.

Glynn, who had a recurring role on TV show Chicago Fire, reportedly had a tree fell on her after getting caught suddenly in Friday's severe storms. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died Saturday. CBS 2 reported that paramedics had to hike half a mile to treat Glynn because the path was too narrow for emergency vehicles.

A memorial trust set up in Glynn's name has already raised more than $80,000 since being established yesterday, Sept. 6.

Glynn's passing would be tragedy enough for any community. Imagine the horror, then, of losing two beloved community members on the same day.

This nightmare became reality when, on the same day that Glynn died, Chicago actor Bernie Yvon also died. Yvon was killed in a car accident on his way to a rehearsal in Munster, In. Yvon was 50.

The Chicago Tribune's Chris Jones summarized the appeal of both actors:

Glynn was known for her intellect, good looks, honesty and feisty personality. Yvon, a classic, twinkle-eyed song-and-dance-man in the old tradition, was known for his charm, warmth, bonhomie and formidable chops on a stage. Both were fixtures on Chicago stages big and small. Their deaths cast a pall Saturday everywhere from the Goodman Theatre downtown to the Marriott Theatre in suburban Lincolnshire. Taken together, these two esteemed actors had worked almost everywhere
