Artist Nicole Hollander made a name for herself as the creator of the long-running cartoon "Sylvia," which was prominent in the Chicago Reader's "Section 4" listings during the Readers "Old Gray Doorstop" era.

Hollander's original syndicated cartoons will be permanently exhibited at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum at Ohio State University—which houses the largest collection of cartoons in the country—at the end of the year. This means those strips will no longer be available for sale.

Before that happens, however, Hollander is hosting a pop-up shop where she'll be selling original artwork all weekend at Union Handmade (3860 N. Lincoln Ave.). You can meet Hollander at the pop-up shop until 8 p.m. this evening, and from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sept. 20-21.

If you have an event for inclusion in "Pencil This In," please contact Tankboy (for A&E-related listings), Melissa McEwen (for tastings, dinners and food and drink-related events) or tips[at]chicagoist[dot]com.
