The Sox proved to be a playoff spoiler for the Tampa Bay Rays, while the Cubs were utterly shellacked by the Dodgers. Here's your morning box score:

Sox 4, Rays 3

The White Sox showed themselves to be comeback kids Friday night as they rallied past the Tampa Bay Rays for a 4-3 victory, thus eliminating the Florida baseball club from playoff contention. A four-run fifth inning helped seal the deal for the Sox, as Jose Abreu, Avisail Garcia, and Alexei Ramirez all stepped up to the plate with clutch hits. The Sox play Tampa Bay again tonight.

Cubs 5, Dodgers 14

lt could have been a total shutout. The Cubs managed some runs in the first and ninth innings, respectively. But otherwise? Look at that scoreboard. Ain't pretty. The Cubs have lost two in a row.
