St. Louis 8, Cubs 0
We had a case of the Mondays here and wrote in yesterday's recaps the Cubs ended the home portion of their regular season with a loss to the Dodgers. We regret the error. The Cubs, meanwhile, may wish they were on the road after posting another lackluster performance against the Cardinals at Wrigley Field. St. Louis ace Adam Wainwright earned win number 20 with seven innings of three-hit ball. Wainwright struck out eight Cubs in that span. Travis Wood was ineffective for the North Siders. He allowed seven runs (six earned) and struck out eight in five innings.

White Sox 2, Detroit 0
The White Sox kept the AL Central race between Detroit and Kansas City tight with a win at Comerica Park Monday. Starter Chris Bassitt earned his career first win with 7 2/3 innings of shutout ball. He struck out three and scattered six hits. Tyler Flowers provided all the necessary offense with a two-run homer and Jake Petricka earned save number 14 for the Sox.
