Quinn Attacks Rauner's Venture Capitalist History In New Ad

The mudslinging is getting heavy between Pat Quinn and Bruce Rauner as the two candidates for Illinois governor head into the final weeks of campaigning. One can’t turn on a television or radio, or go online without seeing or hearing an attack ad. Some of them are just not. That. Good.

Then there’s this one released by the Quinn campaign this morning. “Rauneropoly” is a creative way of highlighting Rauner’s venture capitalist history, complete with a Rich Uncle Pennybags plutocrat (wearing an $18 wristwatch, no less) celebrating as he wins another rigged game. Watch.

This is actually a pretty creative ad, coming from the same governor who once gave us "Squeezy the Pension Python" in an attempt to highlight the seriousness of Illinois' pension crisis. The ad even comes with a corresponding website listing landing spots on the game board such as "GTCRoad" (above), "Income Tax" (use controversial accounting strategies to lower your tax rate) and "Reading Railroad" (propose a budget that will result in billions in cuts to education.)

Much as Rauner's camp has attacked Quinn's record during this race, the biggest target the Quinn campaign has to hit Rauner hard is his business record and how that contrasts with his campaign message as a "by the bootstraps" hard working type. Here's hoping the two pull no punches as they prepare for their debates.
