While we've been enjoying some pleasant weather these past couple days some of you may not have noticed the mercury slowly falling as winds from the northwest and northeast inform our weather patterns. The winds are blowing out of the northeast today, which is both good and bad. Those winds mean we'll see another day of steadily falling temperatures; if we see a high near 60 degrees, Skilling and the city's other meteorologists will be surprised. But those winds, pleasant as they are, are also keeping heavy rains to the south of us at bay—rains that would go a long way toward quenching drought-ravaged soil from Kansas to Kentucky.

Bundle up this evening if you're heading out. There's another cloudy and cool night in store for us heading into the weekend.
