Foo Fighters To Play Cubby Bear This Friday

A few months ago we were chatting with some fellow music writers, musing on what kind of stunt Foo Fighters would pull to promote their upcoming album this fall. Since their previous release was driven by a parade of literal garage shows the new one would probably feature something just as cool. We surmised they'd probably play a small show at one (or all) of the stops documented in their upcoming HBO series Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways that acts as a companion piece to their new LP. If one of those happened in Chicago it seemed a shoo-in that the location would either be Metro (since Dave Grohl has a history with the place) or Cubby Bear, since that was the site Grohl attended his first ever punk rock show (headlined by Naked Raygun).
Turns out Cubby Bear drew the winning hand. Foo Fighters have just announced they'll be playing a show there this Friday, Oct. 17. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m. CST. And we predict they will be gone in seconds. But there's good news! If you don't get your hands on a ticket you can still see the show! HBO will be live-streaming the show through their Facebook page.
Either way, fans win; but to those who hope to snag tickets and see the band live on Friday within the friendly confines of Cubby Bear, we wish you luck!
